Henrik Igityan (1932–2009) was a prominent Armenian art historian and cultural figure who played an invaluable role in the promotion of contemporary Armenian fine arts. In 1970, he founded the world’s first Children’s Art Gallery in Yerevan, and in 1972, he established the Modern Art Museum of Yerevan, which was the first of its kind in the entire Soviet Union. Igityan was the primary champion and theorist of the “artists of the ’60s” generation (including Minas Avetisyan and others), breaking through Soviet ideological molds in Armenian art through his bold activities.
Հենրիկ Իգիթյանը (1932–2009 թթ.) հայ նշանավոր արվեստաբան և մշակութային գործիչ է, ով անգնահատելի դեր է խաղացել հայ ժամանակակից կերպարվեստի հանրահռչակման գործում։ 1970 թվականին Երևանում նա հիմնադրել է աշխարհում առաջին Մանկական պատկերասրահը, իսկ 1972 թվականին՝ Երևանի Ժամանակակից արվեստի թանգարանը, որն առաջինն էր ողջ Խորհրդային Միությունում։ Իգիթյանը եղել է «60-ականների արվեստագետների» սերնդի (Մինաս Ավետիսյան և այլք) գլխավոր ջատագովն ու տեսաբանը՝ իր համարձակ գործունեությամբ կոտրելով խորհրդային գաղափարախոսական կաղապարները հայ արվեստում։
