Zaven Biberyan

Zaven Biberyan (1921–1984) was a renowned Istanbul-Armenian prose writer, publicist, and editor who is considered one of the most daring realist figures of modern Armenian literature. Born in Constantinople, he worked for and edited the local Armenian press for many years, and also lived temporarily in Beirut due to political persecution. Biberyan’s literature, whose masterpieces are considered the novels The Impudent (Lgrtadze) and The Propertyless (Angutinnere), is characterized by its psychological depth, social criticism, and ruthless depiction of the class struggles within the Istanbul-Armenian milieu.

Զաւէն Պիպեռեան (1921–1984) պոլսահայ անուանի արձակագիր, հրապարակախօս եւ խմբագիր է, որ կը համարուի արդի գրականութեան ամենահամարձակ իրապաշտ դէմքերէն մէկը։ Ծնած է Կոստանդնուպոլիս, ուր երկար տարիներ աշխատակցած ու խմբագրած է տեղի հայկական մամուլը, ինչպէս նաեւ քաղաքական հալածանքներու պատճառով ժամանակաւորապէս ապրած է Պէյրութ։ Պիպեռեանի գրականութիւնը, որուն գլուխ-գործոցները կը համարուին «Լկրտածը» եւ «Անկուտիները» վէպերը, յատկանշական է իր հոգեբանական խորութեամբ, ընկերային քննադատութեամբ եւ պոլսահայ միջավայրի դասակարգային տագնապներու անխնայ պատկերմամբ։

Zaven Messerlian

Dr. Zaven Messerlian (born in 1938, Beirut, Lebanon) is a prominent Lebanese-Armenian historian, public figure, and long-time educator. He received his higher education from the American University of Beirut (AUB), specializing in history. Messerlian is especially recognized for his decades of dedicated service; for fifty consecutive years, from 1967 to 2017, he tirelessly served as the principal of the Armenian Evangelical College in Beirut. As a historian, he has authored numerous scientific studies and books dedicated to the Armenian Question, the Armenian Genocide, and the modern history of Middle Eastern Armenians. For his significant educational and scholarly contributions, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and the Saint Sahak-Saint Mesrop Medal from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Տոքթ. Զաւէն Մսըրլեան (ծնած 1938-ին, Պէյրութ, Լիբանան) լիբանանահայ անուանի պատմաբան, հանրային գործիչ եւ երկարամեայ կրթական մշակ է։ Ան իր բարձրագոյն կրթութիւնը ստացած է Պէյրութի Ամերիկեան Համալսարանէն (AUB)՝ մասնագիտանալով պատմագիտութեան մէջ։ Մսըրլեան յատկապէս ճանչցուած է իր տասնամեակներու նուիրեալ ծառայութեամբ. ան 1967-էն մինչեւ 2017 թուական՝ յիսուն տարի շարունակ, անխոնջ վարած է Պէյրութի Հայ Աւետարանական Գոլէճի տնօրէնի պաշտօնը։ Իբրեւ պատմաբան, ան հեղինակած է բազմաթիւ գիտական ուսումնասիրութիւններ եւ գիրքեր՝ նուիրուած Հայկական Հարցին, Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան եւ Միջին Արեւելքի հայութեան արդի պատմութեան։ Իր կրթական եւ գիտական մեծ վաստակին համար, ան արժանացած է Հայաստանի Գիտութիւններու Ազգային Ակադեմիայի պատուաւոր տոքթորի կոչումին եւ Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի Սուրբ Սահակ-Սուրբ Մեսրոպ շքանշանին։
