Description
Hamasdegh's First Love is a moving work that examines the emotional wounds left by the Great Crime through the lens of lost youth. The story's protagonist is Vahram, who, although physically residing in Boston, remains permanently trapped in mind and soul within his ruined village in Western Armenia. He is constantly consumed by the beautiful memory of Maran—his first innocent love—whom he used to watch by the village fountain. Intertwining romantic memory with national tragedy, the author portrays how the calamity of exile condemns the uprooted Armenian refugee to live within a dream of the past, where his entire life is washed away by tears of longing.Նկարագրութիւն
Համաստեղի «Առաջին սէրը» յուզիչ երկ մըն է, որ կը քննէ Մեծ Եղեռնի ձգած հոգեկան վէրքերը՝ կորուսեալ երիտասարդութեան ընդմէջէն։ Պատմութեան հերոսը Վահրամն է, որ թէեւ ֆիզիքապէս Պոսթըն կը բնակի, սակայն միտքով ու հոգիով ընդմիշտ գամուած կը մնայ Արեւմտեան Հայաստանի իր աւերուած գիւղին մէջ։ Ան մշտապէս համակուած է Մարանի՝ իր առաջին անմեղ սիրոյ հիասքանչ յուշով, որուն կը դիտէր գիւղի աղբիւրին մօտ։ Միահիւսելով սիրային յուշն ու ազգային ողբերգութիւնը, գրագէտը կը պատկերէ, թէ ինչպէս տարագրութեան արհաւիրքը արմատախիլ հայ գաղթականը կը դատապարտէ ապրելու անցեալի երազով, ուր անոր ամբողջ կեանքը լուացուած է կարօտի արցունքներով։
