Moushegh Ishkhan

Moushegh Ishkhan (born Moushegh Chenderedjian, 1913–1990) was a prominent Diaspora Armenian poet, playwright, author, and educator who shaped the cultural life of the Armenian community in Lebanon. After surviving the Armenian Genocide as an orphan and studying in Beirut, he spent decades teaching Armenian language and literature at the Neshan Palandjian Djemaran. As a key figure of the second generation of Diaspora literature, his creative works—such as Song of the Houses—powerfully explore the pain of exile, nostalgia for the homeland, human anxiety, and the sacred struggle to preserve Armenian identity and language.

Մուշեղ Իշխան (1913–1990) սփիւռքահայ անուանի բանաստեղծ, թատերագիր եւ կրթական մշակ է, որ կենսական դեր ունեցած է Լիբանանի հայ համայնքի կեանքին մէջ։ Մեծ Եղեռնի օրերուն որբացած գրագէտը իր բարձրագոյն ուսումը ստացած է Պէյրութի Նշան Փալանճեան Ճեմարանին մէջ, ուր ետքը տասնամեակներ շարունակ պաշտօնավարած է իբրեւ ուսուցիչ եւ տնօրէն։ Իբրեւ սփիւռքահայ գրականութեան երկրորդ սերունդի կարկառուն դէմք՝ իր գործերուն մէջ ան անդրադարձած է աքսորի ցաւին, հայրենաբաղձութեան եւ հայ լեզուի ու ինքնութեան պահպանման պայքարին։

Mitchell S. Rothman

Dr. Mitchell S Rothman is an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology and Archaeology at Widener University, and a Consulting Scholar at the Penn Museum. He has conducted archaeological excavation and survey projects throughout the Middle East. He has written final reports on earlier excavations at Tepe Gawra, Iraq, and Godin Tepe, Iran, and books and articles on the origin of the state in Mesopotamia of the Uruk Period, the Kura-Araxes cultural tradition, and theoretical issues of archaeological interpretation. His early work concentrated on Mesopotamia, but in the last decade and a half he has been involved with understanding the fascinating 4th and 3rd millennium BC Kura-Araxes culture in its South Caucasian homeland and in its extensive migrant diaspora from the Zagros across the Taurus Mountains and down into the Levant.
