Hambersom Aghbashian

Hambersom Aghbashian was bom in 1948 in Baghdad, Iraq. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Baghdad (1969), and a certificate in English from the British Council in Baghdad, Iraq (1989). He also completed courses in History, Ethnic Studies, and Political Science at Glendale Community College from 2012 to 2015.

He worked in his field of specialization (Electrical Engineering) for various companies and, in 1981, co-founded ALTEL Contracting Company with two other engineers, where he managed his own business. From 2003 to 2007, he worked for the Bechtel Corporation in Iraq and later in Texas until 2009. He is a board member of the AGBU Baghdad Chapter - OHAN Club. He has been a long-time member of the AGBU Cultural Board of Iraq and was awarded the AGBU of Iraq Medal for his contributions to culture and the stage. He previously served on the Cultural Committee of the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Baghdad, Iraq. He is one of the founders and a first-term board member of the Iraqi Armenian Benevolent Association (IABA) in Los Angeles, California.

He is a regular writer for Nor Or Weekly and has published articles in Asbarez Daily, Massis Weekly, Zartonk, and MassisPost, among others, in Armenian, as well as in Arabic in Gardinia, and in English on Volume I of his book, Turkish Intellectuals Who Have Recognized the Reality of the Armenian Genocide, was published in 2015. His book The History of AGBU in Iraq, 1911-2011 was published in 2016 in Armenian. Volume II of Turkish Intellectuals Who Have Recognized the Reality of the Armenian Genocide was published in 2017. His bookin Arabic The Modem History of Iraq Armenians was first published in 2022 and has since been reprinted twice.
