Aram Khachaturian (1903–1978) was a world-renowned Soviet-Armenian composer, celebrated as one of the most influential musical figures of the 20th century. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, he later studied at the Moscow Conservatory, developing a distinctive style that seamlessly fused rich Caucasian folk traditions with classical Western symphonic forms. He achieved global fame for masterpieces like the sweeping Sabre Dance from the ballet Gayane, the dramatic ballet Spartacus, and his virtuosic instrumental concertos. Alongside Prokofiev and Shostakovich, Khachaturian was recognized as one of the “three titans” of Soviet music, leaving an enduring legacy that still defines modern Armenian cultural identity.
