Aram Haigaz (born Aram Chekemian, 1900–1986) was a prominent Diaspora Armenian prose writer and memoirist. He was born in the city of Shabin-Karahisar in Western Armenia, survived the 1915 Genocide and the local heroic self-defense battle, after which he lived among the Kurds for four years. In 1921, he settled in New York, where he began his literary activity. His monumental memoir Four Years in the Mountains of Kurdistan is an important historical document, while his other works are written in simple Western Armenian, characterized by subtle humor and depictions of Armenian-American life.
Արամ Հայկազը (ծնած՝ Արամ Չեքեմեան, 1900–1986) սփիւռքահայ նշանաւոր արձակագիր եւ յուշագիր է։ Ան ծնած է Արեւմտեան Հայաստանի Շապին Գարահիսար քաղաքը, վերապրած է 1915-ի Ցեղասպանութիւնն ու տեղւոյն հերոսամարտը, որմէ ետք չորս տարի ապրած է քիւրտերու մօտ։ 1921-ին հաստատուած է Նիւ Եորք, ուր սկսած է իր գրական գործունէութիւնը։ Անոր կոթողային «Չորս տարի Քիւրտիստանի լեռներուն մէջ» յուշագրութիւնը պատմական կարեւոր վաւերագիր է, իսկ իր միւս ստեղծագործութիւնները գրուած են պարզ արեւմտահայերէնով՝ յատկանշուած նուրբ հումորով եւ ամերիկահայ կեանքի պատկերներով։
