Aram Andonian (1875–1951) was a prominent Western Armenian journalist, author, and historian whose life and work became defining cornerstones of early Armenian Genocide documentation. Born in Constantinople, he edited several influential literary journals and newspapers until he was swept up in the fateful April 24, 1915, arrest of Armenian intellectuals; he was deported to Chankiri and later Meskene, but miraculously survived the death camps through sheer resilience. In the immediate aftermath of the war, he served as the head of the Armenian National Delegation’s Information Bureau in Paris, where he dedicated his life to collecting survivor testimonies and compiling vital historical evidence, most notably the Naim Bey Memoirs (popularly known as the Andonian Telegrams) published in 1920. Later, he moved to Paris to direct the prestigious Nubarian Library (Bibliothèque Nubar) from 1928 to 1951, fiercely preserving and expanding one of the world’s most critical archival repositories for Western Armenian cultural history and genocide studies until his death.
Արամ Անտոնեան (1875–1951) արեւմտահայ նշանաւոր լրագրող, գրող եւ պատմաբան մըն էր, որուն կեանքն ու գործունէութիւնը դարձան Հայոց Ցեղասպանութեան վաղ շրջանի փաստագրման հիմնաքարերը։ Ծնած Կոստանդնուպոլիս, ան խմբագրած է քանի մը ազդեցիկ գրական հանդէսներ ու թերթեր, մինչեւ որ զոհ գնաց 24 Ապրիլ 1915-ի հայ մտաւորականներու ձերբակալութեան աղէտին. ան աքսորուեցաւ Չանղըրը եւ ապա Մէսքենէ, բայց տոկունութեան շնորհիւ հրաշքով փրկուեցաւ մահուան ճամբարներէն։ Պատերազմի աւարտին ան անմիջապէս ստանձնեց Փարիզի Հայ Ազգային Պատուիրակութեան տեղեկատուական գրասենեակի վարիչի պաշտօնը, ուր իր կեանքը նուիրեց վերապրողներու վկայութիւններու հաւաքման եւ պատմական կարեւոր փաստերու համախմբման, որոնցմէ ամենանշանաւորը 1920-ին հրատարակուած «Նայիմ Պէյի յուշերը» (ծանօթ իբրեւ Անտոնեանի հեռագիրներ) գիրքն է։ Աւելի ուշ ան տեղափոխուեցաւ Փարիզ, ուր 1928-էն 1951 տարիներուն ղեկավարեց հեղինակաւոր Նուպարեան Մատենադարանը (Bibliothèque Nubar)՝ մինչեւ իր մահը խստօրէն պահպանելով ու ընդլայնելով արեւմտահայ մշակութային պատմութեան եւ ցեղասպանութեան հետազօտութիւններու աշխարհի ամենակարեւոր արխիւային շտեմարաններէն մէկը։
