Alexander Grigoryan (1927–2008) was a highly celebrated Soviet-Armenian Impressionist painter, sculptor, and poet recognized as a major figure of the “artists of the ’60s” generation. Born in Leninakan (modern-day Gyumri), Armenia, he studied at the Yerevan Art Institute and became a devoted disciple of the legendary master Martiros Saryan. Grigoryan gained widespread prominence after his breakthrough participation in the landmark 1962 “Exhibition of the Five” alongside other pioneer modernists like Minas Avetisyan. Renowned for his vibrant palette, sharp eye for inner psychological resemblance, and emotional depth, his diverse body of work spans portraits of famous cultural icons—such as William Saroyan—alongside expressive landscapes, sculptures, and deeply moving thematic series centered on motherhood.
Ալեքսանդր Գրիգորյանը (1927–2008 թթ.) հայ նշանավոր իմպրեսիոնիստ նկարիչ, քանդակագործ և բանաստեղծ է, «60-ականների արվեստագետների» սերնդի ներկայացուցիչ: Ծնվելով Գյումրիում՝ նա ուսանել է Երևանի գեղարվեստի ինստիտուտում և եղել Մարտիրոս Սարյանի աշակերտը: Գրիգորյանը լայն ճանաչում ձեռք բերեց 1962 թվականի նշանավոր «Հնգերի ցուցահանդեսից» հետո՝ ստեղծագործելով Մինաս Ավետիսյանի և այլ մոդեռնիստների կողքին: Աչքի ընկնելով վառ ներկապնակով և հոգեբանական խորությամբ՝ նրա ստեղծագործությունը ներառում է հայտնի գործիչների (օրինակ՝ Վիլյամ Սարոյանի) դիմանկարներ, արտահայտիչ բնապատկերներ, քանդակներ և մայրության թեմայով հուզիչ շարքեր:
