This memoir was originally recorded on tape by Avedis Abrahamian and then prepared for publication by Carolann Najarian. The memoir has three main elements: early childhood in Sheykh Hadji (Yukar ı bag) in the Harput plain, eastern Turkey; the Armenian Genocide and escape to Russia through the Dersim mountains; life during the Russian Revolution and its aftermath in the Caucasus; and striking roots in New York. The book retains the authenticity of the original recordings and makes good reading - both as a primary source as well as for general interest.
