Rouben Hakhverdian

Rouben Hakhverdian, born in 1950 in Yerevan, is a legendary Armenian singer-songwriter, poet, and guitarist widely revered as a founding figure of contemporary Armenian bard culture. Originally trained in theater and television direction, he developed a distinct author-performer style characterized by profound, melancholic lyrics, acoustic guitar arrangements, and a raw, soulful delivery. His vast discography primarily explores themes of personal reflection, social critique, and everyday urban life, effectively romanticizing the streets and atmosphere of Yerevan. His classic compositions, including the beloved children’s track Navak, the nostalgic Mer Siro Ashuny, and Yerevani Sirun Aghjik, remain deeply resonant cultural staples across generations both in Armenia and throughout the global diaspora.

Ռուբեն Հախվերդյանը (ծնվ. 1950թ., Երևան) լեգենդար հայ երգահան, բանաստեղծ և կիթառահար է, հայ ժամանակակից հեղինակային երգի հիմնադիրներից մեկը: Ունենալով ռեժիսորական կրթություն՝ նա ստեղծել է կատարողական ուրույն ոճ, որը բնութագրվում է խորը, մելանխոլիկ տեքստերով և ակուստիկ կիթառի անկեղծ հնչողությամբ: Նրա ստեղծագործությունները հիմնականում անդրադառնում են անձնական խոհերին ու քաղաքային կյանքին՝ յուրահատուկ կերպով ռոմանտիկացնելով Երևանի մթնոլորտը: Նրա դասական երգերը, այդ թվում՝ «Նավակ»-ը, «Մեր սիրո աշունը» և «Երևանի սիրուն աղջիկ»-ը, մնում են սիրված ու հարազատ մշակութային արժեքներ Հայաստանում և սփյուռքում:

Rosamunde Quartette

Founded in 1991 in Munich, the Rosamunde Quartett gave their acclaimed debut one year later at the Berliner Festwochen. Alongside the standard quartet repertoire, the musicians put an emphasis on contemporary music. The Rosamunde Quartett are regular guests at major international festivals and concert venues. Their ECM discography includes a recording with music of Shostakovich, Webern and Burian as well as Haydn’s “The Seven Words” and Valentin Silvestrov’s “leggiero, pesante” for which the Rosamunde Quartett were nominated for a Grammy award in chamber music performance. A further critical and popular success is the continuing collaboration with Argentinian bandoneon-virtuoso and composer Dino Saluzzi which, in 1998, led to the recording of “Kultrum”.
