Vatche Semerdjian

Vatche Semerdjian is a well-known Diaspora Armenian intellectual, editor, educator, and public figure. For over fifty years, he served Armenian communities in Lebanon, Cyprus, Ethiopia, England, and the United States, also directing the editorial office of Los Angeles’ Nor Or newspaper for many years. Semerdjian is the author of valuable volumes such as The Lived Diaspora and Under the Spotlight, in which he examines the anxieties of diasporic life and the state of national institutions using objective Western Armenian. For his lifetime of merit, he was awarded the prestigious papal medal of Saint Sahak-Saint Mesrop.

Վաչէ Սեմերճեանը սփիւռքահայ ճանաչուած մտաւորական, խմբագիր, դաստիարակ եւ հասարակական գործիչ է։ Ան աւելի քան յիսուն տարի ծառայած է Լիբանանի, Կիպրոսի, Եթովպիոյ, Անգլիոյ եւ ԱՄՆ-ի հայ համայնքներուն՝ երկար տարիներ վարելով նաեւ Լոս Անճելըսի «Նոր Օր» թերթի խմբագրութիւնը։ Սեմերճեան հեղինակ է «Ապրուած Սփիւռքը» եւ «Լուսարձակին Տակ» արժէքաւոր հատորներուն, որոնց մէջ անաչառ արեւմտահայերէնով կը քննէ սփիւռքահայ կեանքի տագնապներն ու ազգային կառոյցներու վիճակը։ Իր վաստակին համար ան արժանացած է Սուրբ Սահակ-Սուրբ Մեսրոպ հայրապետական բարձր շքանշանին։

Vartan Tachdjian

ԲԺԻՇԿ ՎԱՐԴԱՆ ԹԱՇՃԵԱՆը ծնած է Պէյրութ, Լիբանան։ Վկայուած է ֆրանսական Սեն Ժոսէֆ համալսարանէն եւ դարձաց ծանօթ մանկաբոյժ։ Երկրին քաղաքացիական պատերազմին իբրեւ հետեւանք՝ հաստատուած Միացեալ Նահանգներ, Քալիֆորնիա, ուր 1989ին տրացած է ընդհանուր բժշկութեան եւ վիրաբուժութեան արտօնագիրին եւ կը շարունակէ գործել մինչեւ այսօր։ Սկիզբէն եւ մօտէն առնչութիւն ունեցողներէն եղած է հայ բժիշկներու համաշխարհային գործունէութիւններուն հետ։

DR. VARTAN TACHDJIAN was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1933. He graduated from the St. Joseph French University and became a known pediatrician. Escaping the civil war of Lebanon, he settled in California where in 1989 he continued his practice as a doctor and surgeon. He has been a member of the International Association of Armenian Doctors.

Varteres Karageozian

Varteres Karageozian (1939–2012) was a well-known Istanbul-Armenian poet, children’s author, editor, and intellectual. Born in Istanbul to a family originally from Sebastia, he graduated from the city’s prestigious Getronagan Armenian High School and later continued his studies at the Faculty of Armenian Philology at Yerevan State University. Throughout his literary career, he published books of expressive poetry and children’s riddles, while playing an active role in Diaspora cultural life. He spent the final years of his life in Los Angeles, where he was made a lifetime honorary member of the Organization of Istanbul Armenians.

Վարդերես Գարակէօզեանը (1939–2012) պոլսահայ ծանօթ բանաստեղծ, մանկագիր, խմբագիր եւ մտաւորական է: Ծնած է Ստամբուլ՝ սեբաստացի ընտանիքի մէջ, ուր աւարտած է տեղւոյն հռչակաւոր Կեդրոնական վարժարանը, իսկ աւելի ուշ ուսումը շարունակած է Երեւանի պետական համալսարանի հայ բանասիրութեան ֆակուլտետին մէջ: Իր գրական կեանքի ընթացքին հրատարակած է տաղանդաւոր բանաստեղծութիւններու եւ մանկական հանելուկներու գիրքեր, ինչպէս նաեւ աշխոյժ դերակատարութիւն ունեցած է սփիւռքահայ մշակութային կեանքէն ներս: Կեանքի վերջին տարիները անցուցած է Լոս Անճելըս, ուր եղած է Պոլսահայ Միութեան ցկեանս պատուոյ անդամ:
