Description
The subject of this book is taken from the adventure novel titled On the Shores of Sevan. It is a voluminous novel in which Vakhtang Ananyan tells of various events occurring on the shores of Sevan. Aside from the secret of Lake Killy, it speaks about the establishment of a poultry farm and a beehive farm, as well as the daily life of the region. The main subject is the secret of Lake Killy. If we put the sections relating to it side by side and condense them, we get a self-contained yet summarized novel.
Vakhtang Ananyan is a hunter and a writer. As a hunter, he is well acquainted with all the geographical details of Armenia. As a writer, he knows how to splendidly utilize them in his writings and weave interesting novels based on reality. One of these novels is On the Shores of Sevan, from which The Secret of Lake Gilli has been extracted.

Այս գիրքին նիւթը առնուած է Սեւանի ափին անունով արկածախնդրական վէպէն: Ծաւալուն վէպ մըն է ան, որուն մէջ Վախթանգ Անանեան կը պատմէ Սեւանի ափին պատահող զանազան դէպքեր: Գիլլի լիճին գաղտնիքէն զատ՝ հոն կը խօսուի թռչնաբուծարանի մը եւ մեղուաբուծարանի մը հիմնումին, ինչպէս նաեւ շրջանի առօրեայ կեանքին մասին: Բուն նիւթը Գիլլի լիճին գաղտնիքն է: Անոր վերաբերող հատուածները եթէ քով-քովի դնենք ու խտացնենք, կը ստացուի ինքն իր մէջ ամբողջ, բայց նաեւ ամփոփ վէպ մը:
Վախթանգ Անանեան որսորդ է եւ գրող: Իբրեւ որսորդ՝ ան լաւ ծանօթ է Հայաստանի աշխարհագրութեան բոլոր մանրամասնութիւններուն: Իբրեւ գրող ալ՝ գիտէ սքանչելիօրէն օգտագործել զանոնք իր գրութիւններուն մէջ եւ իրականութեան վրայ հիմնուած հետաքրքրական վէպեր հիւսել: Այս վէպերէն մէկն է ահա «Սեւանի ափին»-ը, որմէ հանուած է «Գիլլի լիճին գաղտնիքը»:
