Zorayr Khalapyan

Zorair Khalapyan (1933–2008) was a prominent Armenian prose writer and playwright. Born in the village of Talish in Artsakh, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Yerevan State University and worked as an engineer. He gained widespread recognition for his novel Where Were You, Man of God? (1966), which was later adapted into a film. Khalapyan also authored the notable works The Dying and Resurrecting and Ara the Beautiful and Shamiram, earning prestigious accolades including the Derenik Demirchyan Award and the “Voske Eghegn” (Golden Reed) State Prize.
