Hasmig Chahinian is a well-known contemporary Western Armenian children’s author, prose writer, and translator, particularly recognized for her contributions to the field of children’s and young adult literature. In her stories, she addresses the inner world, concerns, and daily lives of children and teenagers with subtle psychology, promoting the development of reading in a beautiful and accessible Western Armenian within the diaspora. Among Chahinian’s beloved works are My Birthmark (originally Nshans), The Day When…, and Different. Her stories, often published by children’s publishing houses, enjoy great popularity among diaspora schools and families.
Յասմիկ Շահինեան արեւմտահայ ժամանակակից անուանի մանկագիր, արձակագիր եւ թարգմանիչ է, որ յատկապէս ճանչցուած է մանկապատանեկան գրականութեան մարզէն ներս իր ներդրումով։ Ան իր պատմուածքներուն մէջ նուրբ հոգեբանութեամբ կ՛անդրադառնայ պատանիներու ներաշխարհին ու առօրեայ հարցերուն՝ նպաստելով սփիւռքի մէջ մատչելի արեւմտահայերէնով ընթերցանութեան զարգացման։ Շահինեանի սիրուած գործերէն են «Նշանս» (որ թարգմանուած է նաեւ անգլերէնի՝ My Birthmark խորագրով), «Այն օրը, երբ…» եւ «Տարբեր» վիպակներն ու ժողովածուները։ Իր ստեղծագործութիւնները, որոնք յաճախ լոյս կը տեսնեն մանկական հրատարակչութիւններու կողմէ, մեծ ժողովրդականութիւն կը վայելեն սփիւռքահայ վարժարաններու եւ ընտանիքներու մէջ։
